Classic Wengen from its best side
Again we could see the classic Wengen Downhill at its best with Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT) and Beat Feuz (SUI) sharing the podium with Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR), followed by Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR). Photo from FIS.
We had excitement from the start when Aksel Lund Svindal beat one of the favourites, Dominic Paris, with 0.75 seconds. Then the local hero and number one on the WC Downhill ranking Beat Feuz showed his ability beating Svindal with 0.38 seconds, and with bib number seven and second on the ranking Vincent Kriechmayr finished with green on the scoreboard. The podium seemed to be determined until Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (photo from TV2) with bib number 17, beeing in the lead until the last intermediate time, grabbed the third place before Aksel Lund Svindal. We are looking forward to exciting races in Kvitfjell March 2nd.
Kjetil Jansrud is still struggling to be back to where he used to be in Downhill. After place seven in the Alpine Combined, he was very fast in the first part of the Downhill, but was too slow during the last minute and ended more than two seconds behind the winner.
