Double World Cup in Kvitfjell

ANNI1652

This year, a double World Cup is being held in Kvitfjell for the very first time in history.

The men, led by Marco Odermatt, will be in Kvitfjell on February 17-18, while the women will take the stage during the regular World Cup weekend on March 3-4.

It took over 30 years before Norway could finally welcome double speed races. This has been a goal for the organizers for many years. In 2023, it was the first time the women had a regular downhill and Super G weekend in Kvitfjell. There was a euphoric atmosphere when Kajsa Vickhoff Lie could receive the cheer from thousands of spectators during Saturday's downhill race. Never before had a Norwegian woman stood on top of the podium in a downhill race in the World Cup. This happened on home turf in Kvitfjell in 2023.

The men are returning to Kvitfjell after a short break last year. At the forefront is the biggest star of them all, Marco Odermatt from Switzerland. He leads the overall World Cup and has been exceptional this season, but Marco has never won in Kvitfjell. We believe he has strong intentions to change that, but there is no shortage of challengers. Of course, we had hoped that the last men's winner in Kvitfjell, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, would be among them. Unfortunately, it didn't go that way. The fall in Wengen put a stop to it, but we send our best wishes to Aamodt Kilde and look forward to seeing him again with a starting number. The Norwegian honor will primarily be defended by Adrian Smiseth Sejersted. Adrian knows Kvitfjell well, and he has been close several times before. We believe that the year we get to see Adrian Smiseth Sejersted on the podium in Kvitfjell has come. This is especially true for Sunday's Super G, where he ranks among the front-runners.

Regardless, we can promise fast-paced, intense, and exciting days in the battle for hundredths of a second in Norway's toughest downhill course!

30 Years in 94 Minutes
A Musical Anniversary Performance

Arne Hjeltnes leads the musical evening that, in 94 minutes, will draw lines both backward and forward in time for the Kvitfjell adventure. This is simply an event you cannot afford to miss!

The magical slope on the edge of Peer Gynt's realm was created for the greatest Olympic Winter Games in 1994. Today, 30 years later, Kvitfjell remains a powerhouse of a winter adventure for the entire Ringebu municipality, Gudbrandsdalen, and Alpine Norway. The composer behind the well-known tones of the 1994 Olympics, Dag Kolsrud, has, on this occasion, put together a specially composed musical anniversary performance - featuring local and national artists from the very top tier.
